   Christmas … is good news that hope has come… good news that peace has arrived!  Peace… not just for one political party … or one race … or one economic class … or one country.  But peace has arrived … for everyone… for the entire world. The impact of the Advent of Jesus is that big. 

  See, the prophet Isaiah foretold about this King, that there would be an “advent”… an arrival… a coming.  That God Himself would come… arrive to earth.  And that one of His titles would be the “Prince of Peace.”  On the night of His unique entry into this world, in the form of a helpless baby… the Angels proclaimed that “Peace on earth had come.”  That famous announcement was not given to world leaders, or politicians, or other kings… but to lowly shepherds… the powerless.  It was God’s way of saying that everyone gets to participate in this… everyone is invited into this peace.  Because this is the peace “of” God, giving us peace “with” God.  Where we can be at peace in an unsettled world.  But where we can also reflect and extend that peace … shalom … wholeness…  to others around us.  That is the good news of Christmas.  This week, let’s celebrate the Advent… of Peace.  And that’s … real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
