    Real Life

    With Pastor Steve

When you are tired, parched and dry after a long hike, you cannot wait to get back to base camp to be refreshed.  It’s even better when that refreshment comes out to meet you on your way! ~ paraphrase of scholar NT Wright

This is true whether you are playing sports… having an extensive training or workout… taking a rather long hike or bike ride… or even the military going into battle.  And those are just a few examples.

You know that there is something waiting for you at the end of this event.  But sometimes the end seems far away… and we could use a bit of refreshment right now.  What a joy when food, water, Gatorade, something refreshing from our destination… is made available in the midst of the journey.   It brings life, brings hope.

In the same way, God desires to reach into our world… into this journey within a broken world that can get tiring, frustrating, and makes us “thirsty.”  He wants to provide something refreshing from our “destination,” His perfect kingdom, from heaven… as a foretaste of what’s to come.  And He offers that simply because He loves us.  Like water within an arms-reach, we can see it… but will we put our faith and trust into this one true God that is offering this?  Will we drink from that cup? Refreshment awaits, a touch of God’s glory in your life awaits… may it give you strength in your journey today!  And that’s … real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
