Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. ~ King David

Feeling a little weary after Christmas?  Need a vacation from your vacation?  Many of us probably feel that way!  It’s ironic though, isn’t it?  What should bring a time of rest quite often leads to being frantic and exhaustion.

There’s something within the heart of a human being (it’s just part of our fallenness), that has a hard time resting.   And when we do, we usually do what we do best… go to an extreme… and our rest becomes total inactivity and no motivation at all.

We really don’t know how to rest, do we?  Probably because we don’t know where to start with our rest.  King David was on to something… he realized that his true rest came from God alone.  It’s hard to rest anywhere else, or within any other set of circumstances, if we are not at rest in God.

But here’s another great opportunity… it’s our last weekend before 2025 really takes off. May you rest… but not just rest in general.  May you rest in God… and may that impact every other area of your life this year.

May all of you in the Northwoods and beyond have a Blessed and Happy New Year!  And that’s … real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
