I don’t care much for money.  Money can’t buy me love. ~ Song lyric by the Beatles

There are some things that money just cannot buy. You can buy the greatest medical care in the world… but you cannot buy health.  You can buy sex… but you cannot buy love.  You can buy a house… but you cannot buy “home.”  You can buy power… but you cannot buy real authority.  You can buy stuff to make you happy… but you cannot buy true joy.  You can buy religion or a religious life… but you cannot buy true access to God.

And yet… most of us are obsessed with money.  We are obsessed with how much others have and we don’t have.  But there are just some things money cannot buy.

Two thousand years ago there was a beggar in Jerusalem who was asking for … guess what… money.  Not unlike beggars in our day.  But this beggar was also crippled, he couldn’t walk, which meant he could not go to the Jewish Temple.  In his mind he could not interact with God, so you may as well ask for money, right?

Peter and John said – “money we don’t have, but I give you something money can’t buy… rise and walk in the name of Jesus.”  He couldn’t go to God, so God came to him.  He was healed, inside and out, given a new life.  Money can’t buy that… And that’s … real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
