How did he do that? ~ Common response to illusionists on America’s Got Talent

I’ve always wanted to see an illusionist in person.  They never cease to amaze people, and pull off what looks to be an impossible feat.  I’ve only watched them on TV, and still I come away with “how did they do that?”  But at the end of the day, both the audience and they know… it’s just an illusion… it’s not real.  And for most of us that’s ok, because we are just as intrigued with how he made that illusion look so real.

So rewind back two thousand years.  A forty year old man, who had been crippled from birth… had never walked a day in his life… was seen walking and jumping around the courtyard of the temple.  This was a guy people knew, probably by name.  Many had given him money over the years… they knew about his condition.

But this?  What could explain this?  People began to ask the two men who had prayed over him just moments earlier… Peter and John.   The response was classic.  In summary… they said… “Yes, this is real.  It’s no illusion.  No, it’s not us, we didn’t do it.  This healing… inside and out… was made possible through one name… the name of Jesus.”  When Jesus changes you, even if it’s just on the inside, people notice.  And that’s better than any illusion!  And that’s … real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
