Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  The Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:6

   Oh, and by the way… that includes things like elections.  We live in a world that loves to focus on the extremes…deepening the divisions between us.  There are those who want to strike fear in people … who claim that it will be the end of the world if your team does not win.  Which is why so many people are anxious about the future.  I get it.  There are parts of me that are tempted to get anxious over all this.   However, in the face of that, the way of Jesus calls us to a higher level of focus. 

   Anxiety destroys.  At the societal level, it destroys trust and relationships.  At the personal level, it destroys your mind, your heart, even your body.  There’s not much left once anxiety has taken over and has its way. 

   Which is why the Apostle Paul tells us NOT to be anxious about anything… but simply to take your concerns to God … keeping your heart thankful.  And whatever the results are … your heart remains unmoved… your relationships (even with those you disagree with) … remain intact … and your mind and heart are at peace. Whenever Jesus is at the center of your life, no matter what the outcomes of things… it is never the end of the world. And that’s … real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
