Growth means change and change involves risk, stepping from the known to the unknown. ~ Anonymous
Look around… things were meant to grow. Plants… humans from babies to adulthood… businesses… families… economies. As a pastor, I know that churches are also meant to grow, birth new life. Growth is healthy and exciting on all these different levels.
But how many of you have experienced… that growth comes not just with wonderful rewards, but some challenges along the way. Some things can easily get overlooked. There may be a strain on resources temporarily… there may be jealousy… there may be more needs than people to meet them. Decisions need to be made.
However, a “growing” family … or business… or church … is not reason to panic. It is an opportunity… an opportunity to love, willingly sacrifice, care, show concern and problem solve in new and creative ways. That’s how we should handle growth. As we will cover this Sunday, that’s what the Apostle Peter & the early church leaders did as they experienced growth in those early days. They acknowledged and learned from the hurts caused by mistakes made. They learned to share responsibility with others, realizing it takes a “team,” not a lone ranger. So, do not panic. Let’s all choose to “grow’ together! And that’s … real life. ~ Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
