As human beings, we tend not to believe something to be true if we’ve had no evidence that it ever was true or could ever be true.    

   Like… 20 years ago, the Chicago Cubs winning the World series.  But then the Cubs did… hard to believe… but doubt… turned to reality. (So, maybe there is hope for my Lions winning the Super Bowl! LOL). Now, this is the same as it relates to more serious issues.  If you’ve been burned before by someone in a very big way… how many of you would agree that sometimes you just need a little proof to believe again?  Or if you’ve had your hopes or dreams dashed … how many of you would agree that sometimes you just need a little more proof before you raise your hopes like that again, make yourself that vulnerable again?  Now, in the midst of this doubt… there’s something inside us that wants it to be safe to believe again.  To gain that sense of relief, peace, and joy again.   There’s something within us that wants it to be true, or to become true one day.  That’s the story about a disciple of Jesus named Thomas. He doubted that Jesus was truly resurrected. Until, he saw Jesus… touched the nail marks on His hands.  And doubt … turned into a new reality… and that turned into joy… a new way of living.  May you overcome your doubts, may you rediscover your joy, and your purpose, in the resurrection of Jesus.  And that’s … real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
